The UK's care home sector could benefit from the range of cutting-edge technologies highlighted in a new report.
Following studies on the future of the adult social care system, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) has revealed that robopets, exo-skeleton suits to enhance mobility and talking walking frames are just three of the ideas that could benefit Britons in the future.
A report on the subject by the JRF Centre for Usable Home Technology at the University of York indicated that devices such as interactive coffee tables that provide reminders and dispense medication may reduce care home costs and provide older people with greater independence.
The Local Government Association will be discussing the topic during a topic in Harrogate starting today (October 21st) and Councillor David Rogers, chair of the body's Community Wellbeing Board, remarked that the onset of serious health complaints could be deferred by employing "futuristic telecare technology".
Care homes bosses seeking a UK insurance policy may also be interested in the fact that JRF is debating seven documents at two seminars exploring challenges facing communities, families and the funding of adult social care in order to improve fairness and access.
