Construction
One of our strengths has traditionally been as brokers to the construction industry. Over the years, we have been responsible for the insurances of several Plc’s and have arranged cover for major national contracts.

Translating your insurance needs into Plain English
In conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a leading insurer, Shephards provide a professional indemnity insurance scheme for.

The cover was set up to assist the Chartered Institute of Linguists as a number of Councils were requesting evidence of Professional Indemnity Insurance for Interpreters and Translators.
The scheme provides cover for:
- Dishonesty
- Libel and Slander
- Loss or Damage to Documents
- Unintentional Breach of Professional Duty
Indemnity level – minimum of £100,000 for all claims in aggregate during any one period of insurance. Higher limits are available upon request.
Claims Examples
- A Court case involving asylum seekers collapsed because an interpreter wrongly translated what two defendants were saying. The Court case was estimated to be over £1,000,000.
- An error in a technical brochure resulted in reprinting costs and damages for the client’s loss of business - £25,000 was paid
- Error in translation of a photocopier manual resulted in a £10,000 payment
- Insured inadvertently deleted text whilst doing electronic artwork, resulted in a payment of £7,500
In addition to Professional Indemnity, Shephards has arranged Public Liability Insurance as an extra consideration.
Furniture Industry – Furni Cover
Insurance for the Furniture Industry, whether you are a specifier, supplier, installer, woodworker or manufacturer, usually requires specialist insurance.
Over the past two decades Shephards together the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers has been supplying a scheme for the members and non-members associated with the Association.
In 2008, Shephards will be launching a Furniture Industry Scheme – Furni Cover which will be open to the whole of the Furniture Industry providing all ranges of insurance cover needed by all businesses large or small. In addition, risk management together with health and safety training will be included.
Dance Teachers Insurance
Developed in association with the International Dance Teachers Association for its members, Shephards is able to offer a comprehensive insurance policy to meet the needs of Dance Teachers throughout the UK.
Underwritten by Lloyds – Shephards is able to offer:
